Remembering to leave room for board expansion is extremely important. Pop a chalk line 3/8 from the straightest least obstructed wall in the room. This will be the best wall to start from. Start by using a long board placed along the edge of the chalk line. You will have to face nail the first few boards until the pneumatic nailer will fit beside the starting wall. Don’t worry that you can see the nails now, we will cover how to remove them from site in the future blogs. Be sure that your flooring is ran perpendicular to your floor joists as well. This will help anchor the flooring and tie everything together. Once you’ve gotten far enough away from the way you can begin to use the pneumatic nail gun. Before nailing each board you want to be sure that the board is tight in the groove and that you’re not putting joints to close to one another. Everything else is fairly self-explanatory and if you have gotten this far should be a breeze.

Next week we will cover the approach taken when you have purchased your flooring and are moving on to installing hardwood flooring. Give Advanced Flooring Solutions a call for all of your hardwood flooring needs.
