How to Care for Your Hardwood Floors

One of the best aspects about installing hardwood floors into your home is how easy it is to keep them clean. Unlike the problems that you’ve experienced with carpets, hardwood floors are stain resistant and low maintenance. You can also take that mop you that you have and put it in the trash because the days of mopping are behind you. ┬áSo, what is the best way to keep your hardwood floors immaculate? Well, let us give you a few tips.

Hardwood Floor Maintenance

dustmop hardwood floorsOne of the most important things you can do is to clean up liquid spills immediately. You do not want water, juice, wine or any liquid sitting on your floors for a prolonged amount of time – hence why you should never mop your wood floors.

Be sure to sweep, vacuum and/or dust mop on a regular basis (at least every week) to keep your floors clean, and to maintain that beautiful shine, be sure to buffer the floors periodically. One great way to reduce the amount of dirt and other particles deposited on your floors is by putting welcome mats at all of your doors.

As far as cleaning your floors, that is all that is required. After an extended period of time, you may want to invest in getting your hardwood floors refinished to make them look like new, but that is a special treatment that is not part of regular maintenance.

At Advanced Flooring Solutions, we will help go over everything you need to know about how to properly care for your hardwood floors after we install them. So, if you are in the market for new floors, don’t hesitate to contact us.
